John 1:40-41 AMP
One of the two who heard what John said and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
He first sought out and found his own brother Simon and said to him, We have found (discovered) the Messiah!–which translated is the Christ (the Anointed One).

Matthew 16:18 AMP
And I tell you, you are Peter [Greek, Petros –a large piece of rock], and on this rock [Greek, petra –a huge rock like Gibraltar] I will build My church, and the gates of Hades (the powers of the infernal region) shall not overpower it [or be strong to its detriment or hold out against it].

God loves every believer equally, but he treats us differently based on our commitment to his person and investment in his kingdom.

This is what is revealed in the above scriptures; that Andrew heard John talk about Christ and Came to Tell Simon Peter that they have found the Christ, Nathaniel also had met with Jesus before Simon. But when Simon Met Jesus, he received him differently from what he had been told. And Jesus conferred on him a position of a foundation in the church.

Nathaniel told Peter come and and see, Jesus whom prophecy talked about: so he saw a confirmation of his knowledge, (flesh and blood) but Peter beyond that said to Jesus you are the son of God and jesus said; flesh and blood had not revealed this to you.

So revelation supersedes education.

So it's not about who met him first or who read more about him, but what is revealed to each person about him. 

And finally when Peter told Jesus you are the son of God, Jesus told Peter you are the Rock....so when Jesus is revealed to you, only then can you discover your own real self.
